Letter #20: Hola

Hola,

This week we participated in a huge stake-wide service project. It was a justserve.org project so it technically wasn’t sponsored by the Church, so we weren’t allowed to teach and try to find new investigators. But it was this huge food drive and we helped sort and box tons and tons of food to be delivered to food banks from other churches. There was a ton of food and it took hours to sort and box. The lifting of all the boxes was pretty exhausting. It was quite fun though.

A funny story for you guys, we went to this family called the Moscoso’s. They live at the top of our zone right next to the border of the stake. They are a super nice Peruvian family and the fed us (me and my companion and two other elders) soooooooo much food. They fed us a three-course meal. Starting with potatoes in this interesting sauce, then this green rice w/veggies and chicken. It was super good. Then they gave us brownies, ice cream and hot fudge sauce. It was divine but I don’t think I have ever eaten so much food in my life. On the drive back afterwords, my companion (who ate the most) pulls over next to this park and jumps out of the car and runs over to a trash can and just pukes his guts out. The best part about this is we got it all on film. haha. We were all laughing so hard.

I am eating so much food out here though… I have gained a lot of weight out here 🙁 Too many taco’s. haha.

This week we have been working really hard with some of the less-active members in our area to help get them back to church. We got one lady to come back. She was against the church for the longest time but she asked us for a blessing and when we gave it to her, the Spirit was super strong and she said she obtained the desire to come back. It was a really cool moment.

We found a new investigator this week that should be really solid, her name is R_____. We knocked on her door and started talking with her, she said her son just died and so did a couple other members of her family and that she had been praying for help and for guidance and then we came shortly after. We talked with her about the Plan of Salvation and she really enjoyed it. I am excited to continue to teach her this week. The only problem is she has to take care of her dad all the time and is super busy so she is rarely home… Keep her in your prayers.

This week we were going to go do service at Leisure World but they cancelled on our way there so we just decided to stop by the mission office on our way home to ask if they need any service to be done since we were already in our work clothes. We then proceeded to wash the Mission President’s car and Sister Tew’s van along with a bunch of cars of the office couples. It was fun.

This week has been super cold here in California… I think I am becoming a true Californian haha. If the weather is above 80 or below 70 it is either too hot or too cold. It was 68 the other day and I had to put on a sweater… haha. It is weird how California changes you… lol

i love y’all and i hope y’all have a great day!!!
