Letter #17: Crazy Week!!

This has been a crazy week, and I don’t have to much time to write. Easter was great! General Conference was super sweet! I had a great time. We watched the sessions at the stake center and a couple fed us in between sessions. We had hamburgers on Saturday and pancakes on Sunday. It was a great time.

On Friday, we decided to hold a talent show at the church for the branch. They haven’t had a ward party/get together in a while and so we decided to plan it. It was fun and we had a bunch of members and investigators show up. It was super fun and a huge success. We did this skit that was super funny. We made it look like mini-missionaries doing typical missionary things but it was someone elses arms.

Talent Show?
Talent Show?

Last Monday, we had a special P-day activity. A white member hosted a party for all the missionaries in our zone at his house. He had a big nice house with a cool backyard and a pool. When we got there and he was talking to us he said we were free to do anything in his backyard and if we wanted to we could swim in the pool to cool off. None of us actually touched the pool but he was a funny guy. He also bought all of us dinner at El Pollo Loco (which they have a ton of those out here.) We had a fun time playing volleyball and basketball in his backyard.

On Tuesday, we had a funny experience. We were going to find by a referral in this apartment complex but it was locked. There were about 15 little Hispanic kids all playing in the front courtyard area thingy. They saw us and let us in. They were all running around us and so excited to see us. They saw the pass-along cards that I had in my pocket and they all wanted to have them and were so excited to have the cards. The person who we were going to see wasn’t there but as we were walking out the kids were showing us how they could do cartwheels and stuff, and my companion did a cartwheel for them and they went crazy when he did. They were all super excited and loved us. My companion has a little my little pony key chain on his bag and when they saw it they all started screaming because they all loved My Little Pony. They were trying to take it from us and trying to not let us leave. The kids started hugging our legs so we wouldn’t leave. We started making our way to the complex and they kept following us. We didn’t know how to get away from them. Then my companion looked at me and said three two one and then we both just took off running with this pack of 15 kids chasing us down the street. We ended up losing them after a block or so. It was super funny. It makes you appreciate the sincerity of little kids because they were so excited when we gave them attention. It was a fun experience.

This is the last week of the transfers and transfer day is tomorrow and we got transfers calls on Saturday night. I am staying in my same area with my same companion (my trainer) for another transfer even though I am done with training. It will be my companion’s last transfer because he is going home in May!

This week has flown by and I have enjoyed every bit of it. One thing that I am trying to do out here is to always improve everyday. I want to live every day better than the last. To constantly improve and each day be more obedient, be more diligent and to be more Christlike every day. So far I have seen a change in my life, and so many blessing that come from it.

Well, sorry if my letters seem a bit scattered, it is so hard to focus on one thing as I am writing… But I hope it all makes sense. I love you all and hope this next week will be better than the last.

Love,

Elder Bryce
