So this past week has been crazy!
Maria’s Baptism was on Friday and it was AWESOME! There weren’t too many people who showed up but it was a really good baptismal service. We made it kinda short but the Spirit was there. It was really good. We then had her confirmation yesterday during sacrament meeting and she wanted me to do it and it was super scary because it was the first time giving a blessing in Spanish, but it was good—once I just stopped worrying and just let the Spirit take over.
The US Open of Surfing has been going on the last week or so. It is a crazy big Surfing competition and there is a ton of tourists in Huntington Beach especially by the beach. We tend to do most of our work towards the north end of the stake so we don’t encounter many people.
We found this cool lady this last week, We knocked on this one door looking for a really old potential and they didn’t live there but this lady who was about 30 years old answered and we jumped into talking about the Plan of Salvation with her and she was super interested. We are going to go back this week and talk with her again. She seems super cool.
This week has been up and down however. On Tuesday I got really sick with this weird cold thingy but with a really awesome priesthood blessing I was able to get up and continue to work. It makes me realize that I can’t get through this work alone. Even if I work as hard as I can I am not able to do this work. It takes relying on the Lord, going as far as you can and then asking him to take you the rest of the way. It was a really humbling experience but has made me have a more positive attitude towards the mission life.
We have made a lot of progress with our investigator R_____. He has finally expressed the desire that he wants to come to church but it just seems like every week, there is some small thing that prevents him from coming. It is kinda frustrating, but we are slowly making progress with him.
Also we have this less active named C_______ who we are working with to get back active, she is a member and so is her son but the rest of her family aren’t members. Her son just got back from a mission in Mexico, he is super cool, but he is going to BYU right now. He has a video on Mormon.org that was on the main page for a while. You should check it out because you can see the area that we work in. The video takes place where we do most of our work. It is cool. His name is Valentin Pavia. Look him up on mormon.org đŸ™‚
That’s pretty much it for this week.
I love y’all,
Elder Bryce
