Letter #41: Transfers

HEYO!!!!

So transfer calls this week, AND I AM STAYING!

Elder Passey and I get to stay together for another six weeks and I am excited to be here for another transfer. I can’t wait to keep teaching our investigators especially R____. He is progressing really well and hopefully he comes to church this week. He said he might actually try this week.

We had a really crazy week. We had a ton of random stuff that happened, we had to take our car into PepBoys, make a trip to the office to take a bunch of extra microwaves that were in our apartment, had a multi-zone conference, and just little things… It was kinda annoying because we didn’t have as much time to go out to proselyte… But all is well, we will just have an even better week this week.

Oh, crazy story, so for dinner like three times this week, members gave us gift cards to different places since they couldn’t cook for us but then when we were at the different fast food places another member came up and paid for us… It was crazy… Now we have a bunch of gift cards!!! yeah!! The members here are super nice. I feel spoiled haha… This is the zone with the most members in the entire mission so it is a great chance that whenever we go out to eat someone will pay for us… It is crazy weird haha.

So it was one of the English elders birthday last week, the ones who we eat with this month. This guy figured it out and decided to take us out to a fancy restaurant for dinner. It was crazy expensive……… He just started ordering so much food and we felt like we had to eat it all because it was so expensive. He even bought us dessert. I don’t think I have ever eaten so much food in my life. I am going to get so fat if I stay here any longer haha. But yeah… I may have blown chunks later that night. 😉

Oh and we taught A______ the last couple of lessons and he was baptized on SUNDAY! It was pretty dope. It was a great baptism. Totally in Spanglish because almost the entire YSA ward was there and only like two spoke Spanish. But is was really good, no mistakes and we didn’t have to dunk him 4 times! yeah!

We taught this guy J______ (in his 40’s) who is a new investigator and we set a baptismal date with him on the first lesson and we went back to teach him again and we were having this great lesson, he was in tears totally opening up to us, he said he wants to change and become a better person, he said he was thinking about suicide and is really depressed and he is willing to listen and change. But the only bad part is he has literally a demon child. He is the spawn of Satan. He is like 4 or 5. So the entire time he was chasing their tiny tiny puppy around trying to whip it with a towel and then he started kicking it. Like as hard as he could. Then he ran into the kitchen and grabbed a cup of milk and just poured it on the ground. Then he put on boxing gloves and was trying to beat up all of us. He kept trying to kick us in the privates. Then he started like attacking our member who was out teaching with us. The member played it off pretty well and kind of grabbed and restrained him. Then the kid started swearing (like the f word) and spit on our member several times. The dad wasn’t really paying attention because he was pouring out his soul to us in tears. But I just wanted to slap this kid. Argh! Literally the worst kid on the planet.

But I am loving the work here. Loving the weather, the people, the investigators, the members, my companion, just everything. It is amazing. My Spanish is also starting to get a tad bit better… Still not where it should be but ONE DAY.

Thanks fam for everything
