Letter #49: Cold Weather… :)

So this week just flew by… haha I feel like I say that every week but it is so true. It is crazy how fast time flies.

So one of the things that we are trying to do in the area is work with the members here to strengthen their testimonies and get them to share the gospel with their friends and family. We never really did that when I was in HB because there wasn’t too many Hispanic members to work with. On Monday we held a family home evening with two families and a less-active member to get her more comfortable with the members here. It was pretty fun.

On Tuesday we went to this member and we challenged her to give out a copy of the Book of Mormon and she did and she asked us for another and she was really excited to give it out and find people for us to teach. Which was pretty sweet. This happened again on like Friday.

Then we taught this investigator named A______ we invited him to be baptized and he said that he wants to know for himself if the Book of Mormon is true before he decides so he told us he was going to read the entire book in the next couple months! He is really cool.

We are working with M_________, the recent convert who is 17. She is questioning if their is a God or not because she watches the news all the time and she sees all the bad in the world and it makes her question. We then went out and bought her a journal and told her to write four things every night that she is thankful for, and that when she looks for the positive things she will find out there is a God. It is all about your perspective on life, you look for the bad you will find it and if you look for the good, you will find it. Life is just easier in general if you are optimistic. 🙂 And when you start looking for the good you truly see all the wonderful little miracles everyday.

We taught this less active lady who is really going through a tough time. She used to be really active, was a member for a while, has been through the temple, but is really struggling with her testimony. We told her to start with the small things, like praying and reading, then work on coming to church and as she does the little stuff, she will be able to overcome the challenges she is going through. We gave her a blessing and Elder Lesa gave a super powerful blessing and the Spirit filled the room. It is moments like that where I love being a missionary 🙂

This week our car’s brakes were getting pretty squeaky so we took it in to PepBoys and they told us it would be 30 mins, so we started walking around this little mall area next to it and five hours later they finally called and told us it was done… haha good news was there was a member who saw us walking and she bought us Jamba Juice which was pretty awesome.

We started teaching this one guy who is the husband of a member and he is pretty cool. We went by to visit her (the member) and she wasn’t home but he just let us in and started talking to us. Pretty cool.

We taught this less-active lady who is in a care center in a wheel chair. We took her to church on Sunday because it wasn’t too far of a walk. She is super nice.

There was this one night this week, where we had a bunch of set lessons and we were excited and had a bunch of plans set up and it was looking like a good night but as we went through the night everything fell through. All our plans and our back up plans. It was a long night but we knew there must have been a reason everything fell through. We then felt like we should pass by a member right before we headed in. It was like 8:55 and we went by and it was a miracle, they thanked us for coming by and we helped them through what they were going through. It is amazing how the Lord has a plan that we usually can’t see, but he knows best and he knows what we need to do.

Thanks for all your letters! And have a great week!
