Letter #63: Workin

This week has been a fantastic week!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!!

So we have been working with A_________ this week to help prepare him for baptism. He had his baptismal interview and passed!!! He will be getting baptized on Saturday. He is so cool, we were talking and he said that before we came he felt very lost, but he didn’t realize it. He thought that he was fine but once he opened himself up (thanks to Family History work) he realized how much he was missing out on. He loves coming to church and reading the scriptures. We are so excited for this Saturday!

We have been finding a lot of people the past couple weeks. We were working with a mother named X_______ who at first was really shy and hesitant but we have been able to gain her trust and she seems pretty interested, she is worried about her kids and wants to raise them to be good people. So we tried to teach the little kids how to pray. They are 9, 6, and 3. And boy was it difficult… haha but in the end after the prayer of the one who was 9 they were all quiet. The Spirit was really strong and X_______ wants us to keep coming back!

We taught our investigator R___________ who is awesome. We taught him the Restoration this week and he related really well to Joseph Smith and his story, he committed to read, and pray about a baptismal date. He also came to church on Sunday and had a pretty good experience.

So we had a really cool experience, we got a referral for a person who lives in Lakewood California (our area covers most of Bellflower and part of Lakewood) but we never go in that area because it is usually just white people… But we went down and knocked on the door and someone shouted “We are busy come back later” so we were headed back to the car but we stopped, God must have put us there for a reason, so we looked around at all the houses trying to guess which one would be Hispanic and we went to one and nobody was home. We then go try a second door and the lady who answered didn’t even open the screen door. She wasn’t really interested but before we left we just asked her if there was anybody who spoke Spanish in the area and she said she did. She had really good English but once we started talking to her in Spanish she really opened up. We had a really long conversation on her doorstep about the Plan of Salvation and she loved it, and asked if we could come back to visit her and her husband sometime. It was awesome.

This week has been really good. Next week is our temple p-day so we will be going to the LA temple so I won’t write y’all till Tuesday. Thanks for all the letters and I hope ya have a great week!
