So this week has been crazy. It was Elder Brock’s last week here before he leaves for Spain, so we got down to business to finish off with a bang.
We had a bunch of really good lessons this week with K______, I______, and a couple of our other investigators but the coolest experience was with a guy named J______.
J______is a 19 year old kid who gave us a call saying he wanted to get back in touch with God, so we arranged a time where we could meet with him in the park. He was an former investigator from the elders who were here before, and used to be living with a inactive member of our ward named E______. Apparently they went through some troubles and he was going through a tough time so he reached out to us. We had a couple of really good spiritual lessons with him. It was amazing to be a part of because I could feel my mouth being filled with words to say and comfort him. He is super humble and really wants to change for good this time. We were able to invite him to be baptized and he said yes and he really wants to! He is preparing for a day in May to do so.
After our second lesson with J______ this week, a random black dude walked up to us, right before we were about to say the closing prayer. He was supposedly a famous dude in Kenya but was here for a couple months but heading back to Africa in like two days. He broke down about how hard life was as a celebrity. The cool thing was, J______ reached out to him and begin to testify about how he changed around when he turned to God and started talking to us. He testified that God answers prayers and would help him through his challenges. It was super spiritual. He then explained to the guy how we pray and offered an amazing prayer where the Spirit was so strong. After we walked away with J______, he had the biggest smile on his face. He loved sharing the gospel and asked if he could come out with us to teach, and said he wants to be a missionary. It was such a cool spiritual moment that I will never forget.
The only sad part is that he is young enough that we had to pass him off to the missionaries who cover the YSA ward. So we won’t be able to participate in the teaching process.
We were fed quite a bit this week as the members made huge meals for Elder Brock’s last week. He left this morning and I am currently in a trio with Elder Cruz and Perez. On Tuesday I will get my new companion, who is Elder Rodriguez. I am excited for this next transfer and for the opportunity to serve and love others. I truly love this gospel and love how it changes people. It gives them hope.
This is all for the week! I love all of you and hope you have a fantastic week.
