Letter #71: Road Trip!

This week has flown by!

We took two trips to the LA Temple Visitors Center and boy that place does wonders. The spirit is so strong there. It is a good spiritual experience that really helps investigators who are struggling.

The First trip was on Friday Morning. We went with our investigator I_______ who we are trying to prepare for baptism in the next couple weeks. It was really cool because we had A_______ take us. He is one of the most solid recent converts I have seen. He loves to help out in any way he can. It was cool because only a couple months ago we took him there. The only bad part was he got pulled over on the way there but the cop was LDS and saw us missionaries in the car so he let us go. haha It was pretty sweet. Israel had a great time and he felt the spirit. He got really emotional which is weird because he never gets emotional.

Then on Sunday we took K_______. She is 15 and we are teaching her and also her parents but she is more interested in finding out if the church is true. So we went with her and the L______ family from the ward. They are an awesome family and all have great testimonies. Being around them always reminds me of y’all back home. But we went and had a great spiritual experience with her. Hopefully it is something that can help her to get an answer to her prayers.

We did a huge service project as a ward in the city of Lakewood. It was for JustServe.org and was a lot of fun. We helped out this old lady who lives alone clean out her house and yard…. It was bad enough that it took the entire ward and like 10 missionaries several hours to clean a tiny three-room home. We went to town, and took out a couple trees. It was cool because some news crew showed up so I might be on the local news! aw yeah!!

We had a great time trying to find more people and had quite a bit of success. We had a couple lessons with people who just wanted to argue, which was a tad bit frustrating especially when they start quoting random facts from the internet as their main source of arguing. But we kept on working not letting it get us down. Then we were able to find a couple of really cool people afterwards. It is amazing that when you hit those moments where you might want to call it in for a day, that if you just overcome that natural desire and just keep pressing forward that God really does work miracles.

That’s about all for the day. But I love all of you and hope you have a great day!!!
