Letter #88: Missionary Life

Hola! (that’s Spanish for Hello)

This week has been full of adventures. We have been teaching a ton of people and seeing a lot of miracles. We found this really cool guy named Pepe who has been through a lot in his life. He was wanted to change for a while now but hasn’t known how he could. We were able to testify that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can change anyone and everyone. It can cure any wound, overcome any addiction, give hope to and inspire anyone who is willing to follow the example of Jesus. He was really touched and asked how he can learn more and if he could come to church. It was a cool little experience.

Then we had a ward activity that, us missionaries, put together. We called it the Tree of Life. We set up in the gym a bunch of chairs that were touching each other and it weaved around the gym until it reached the end where we made a big tree on the wall out of Christmas lights. We blindfolded everyone and told them to hold onto the chairs. We then tried to tempt people to leave the Iron rod and come with us. Then when someone got to the end and took off the blindfold they were happy until they looked around and saw that their family didn’t make it. We had them go and try and help their family reach the tree together. It was fun and the ward loved it. We are really trying to get the ward to work together and build relationships one with another which has been good.

Please keep Rafael in your prayers, he is having some major health issues and had to be taken to the Hospital for some heart problems. That guy goes through so much but his faith is so strong.

We are teaching this couple named Carlos and Sandra and they have four kids all under the age of 7. It is kinda hectic when we are teaching them because their kids are always running around screaming and trying to get our attention. They are a cool couple and Sandra really wants to get baptized but their only problem is they are not married… This is such a common problem with people here. They are not in a position where they can get married easily so we are just trying to strengthen their faith because there is not much we can do with that situation.

It is amazing how you just lose yourself in the work. I feel like time is just flying by and I still haven’t figured out how to slow it down. I am trying to fully appreciate this time that I have to fully serve others with all my time and attention. I love the scripture Matthew 16:24-27 . When we just lose ourselves in the service of others God shapes us into the person he wants us to become. Obedience to the Lord’s commandments sets us free and makes us into that person.

God truly loves each and every one of us, and that love is behind everything that he does and everything that happens. Because God loves us.

I love all of you and hope you have another great week!
