Letter #43: #ldsconf

HEY!!!!!!!!

This week has been crazy! It has been super fun though.

So on Monday we were teaching some of our new investigators M_________ and A________ for the second time and their friend walked in and they invited her at that moment to come over and sit down and listen and she was super hesitant and was saying she was catholic. Then A________called her out and was defending us… which was super cool. They seem super cool and it would be really cool to teach an entire family. They are really nice.

Then we had a day where we just got nothing done… We had no success with people in the street, knocking, going by investigators and less-active members and hadn’t taught anybody all day. We were really trying hard to find someone to teach. One rule the mission has it to make sure to teach a lesson every day. And we were trying until 8:59 (we have to head in at 9:00) where we knocked on this one last door… The lady who answered looked at us and then yelled at us for knocking so late. We then started heading back to the car because it was nine. I was feeling pretty bad because we gave our all and nothing really happened. But on our way to the car, this black lady comes out of nowhere and comes out and was saying stuff like “You guys are doing a great work! God is proud of you and loves you and that is all that matters. If you were the only one on earth he would suffer just for you.” and after a bunch of Hallelujah’s and Praise the Lord’s she said good night and walked away. I know that she was a message to me from God. That God was proud of me for giving my all even though we weren’t able to teach that night. It made me smile and very appreciative to God.

Then on Wednesday we had a Zone Meeting where we are changing the focus of the mission. They implemented some rules that turned everything away from “number chasing” and more to helping people come closer to God. I love the way the mission is going and all the new things that are happening. I really have noticed a huge change and a ton of success.

We went to the hospital twice to give blessings, both of which were amazing spiritual experiences.

We picked up a new investigator. He seems really cool and open to learning. He seems to have great potential but his only problem is going to be the fact that he is gay. He loves everything that he has seen about the church but is hesitant to find out more because of that.

We helped this lady in a different ward move. There was 6 of us missionaries helping her move a bunch of stuff from a storage unit to a Truck and then from the truck into her apartment. Which was fine and all until we found out it was on the 3rd floor… AARRRHGGHHSDOIGHOSD. We had to carry a bunch of furniture through a bunch of tight hallways shove some of it into elevators and carry some of the bigger stuff up 3 flights of stairs into this ladies apartment. It was fine but the lady who we were helping just blew up on us. She was a non-member and we were helping her out for free. And she was yelling and swearing at us and stuff. argh! It was a trial of patience. đŸ™‚

BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!! We had a lesson with R_______ and we gave him Mosiah 18 to read before we came and when we came he told us up front what does he have to do to get baptized. We set up a date for him on the 1st of November so keep him in your prayers because he is going to have to get over his smoking addiction. But besides that he is going to get BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is super cool. But he told us he didn’t think he could make it to any of the conference sessions. Then before Priesthood we texted a member to stop by his house and invite R______ to conference. R_______said yes and was there and loved it. Pretty awesome. Members really make a difference in helping someone make that big step!

Conference was great! We watch it all together at the stake center in English with the other missionaries in the zone and some members occasionally show up. We got fed in-between sessions and stuff which was super nice by the members. Henry B Eyring is definitely my favorite every conference, especially his one in the Priesthood session.

Life is Great! I love y’all and hope ya have a dope week!

Elder Bryce

P.S. Dad, I totally saw you singing in the Priesthood session. It was awesome! The new apostles seem dope! Elder Rasband visited our mission the week after I came into the field so I got to shake his hand! đŸ™‚ Pretty sweet!!
