Letter #57: El Libro

So this week has been pretty sweet!

RAIN. It has rained quite a bit, and since California isn’t used to anything not 70 degrees and sunny, it doesn’t know how to handle it. There are always giant puddles, and nobody knows how to drive… It has been fun. I have been putting my umbrella to use… finally.

So we have found quite a bit of success this week. We are focusing our efforts on finding investigators and we are doing it through using the Book of Mormon. Usually we have used in talking to people the plan of salvation or how the gospel blesses families, but this week we started using the Book of Mormon as our contacting strategy. Talking and testifying of the power of the book and how everyone can come to know it is true for themselves has been our focus and wow we have found a ton of new people to teach.

One of which was someone named D________. We have been knocking random doors every once in a while if we notice it looks Hispanic (mop outside door, tiny American flags in potted plants, aloe vera plants that have little bits missing, Christmas lights still up) and we went over and knocked on her apartment door and talked about the Book of Mormon and she said that she was busy but we could come back. Later on in the week when we past by she had read the first couple chapters of the book. She had a couple questions for us and we answered them and read a bit with her. She is super cool. She is in her twenties or thirties and has a couple kids. She is nice and we are going to continue to teach and help her.

We have been working a bunch of less-actives and they all seem like they all want to come back to church now. It is really cool. I think it is just that church now is at 11:30 instead of 9:00 haha…. It gots to be the reason. 🙂

G__________ is our main investigator and he is doing pretty good. He has come to church three times in a row. He has been an investigator for a while and knows a ton about the Book of Mormon, way more than I do. We just have to get his girlfriend divorced and then get them married and then he would love to be baptized… I just don’t know what we can do to help them get divorced, and they don’t know either so they are kinda just chillin’ where they are at…

So a couple weeks ago, my world changed. My entire life I thought that Milky Way’s had peanuts in them but I found out that they didn’t… And man they are good. They are like evolved 3 Musketeers. And I had one today that was French Vanilla and Caramel. I would highly advise all within the sound of my voice to try it. It will change your world and its only 35 carbs.

But yeah… Life has been great. We are working really hard to talk to everyone we see, even all the white people who seem so scary…. haha but yeah Hispanic are so much more nice. My companion and I are really pushing each other to be exactly obedient and I have seen my Faith grow so much. I am learning to put my trust in the Lord and ask him for help and guidance and he really does answer prayers. I really love being a missionary. This gospel is just amazing and can change lives. I love sharing it with people and helping change there lives.

So do y’all have any question for me? Anything about the mission that you want to know. Thanks for the letters and I hope y’all have a blessed day!
