Letter #4: ¡Próspero año nuevo!

Hola (That is Spanish for Hello)!

Hey guys! It is already 2015 which is crazy… I can now say that I have been serving a mission since last year. It is like I am half way done… Haha. I loved talking with you guys on Christmas, and I LOVED all the pictures you guys sent. Christmas was great! I enjoyed it with the Krispy Kreme donuts, Oreos and Chips Ahoy cookies.

Here is a picture of Christmas Dinner. The Ham was really really good and so was the corn. The cake had nuts 🙁 and the mashed potatoes were like liquid. It was quite interesting. For Christmas lunch we had enchiladas which were tasty.

The devotionals on Christmas were fabulous. We had one from Russell M. Nelson live from the Provo MTC and then we watched the one from last year which was David A Bednar and that was superb. We had a choir activity where every zone would sing a different Spanish hymn. We sang Cantan Santos Angeles (Angels We Have Heard On High). We also did a service project helping make blankets for a local old folks home which was cool. We also got to watch Meet the Mormons which was a nice change of pace and quite a good movie.

We didn’t do too much on New Years Eve but there was a huge tie trade that was thrown in our casa (house) and I was able to pick up some sweet ties. The amount of fireworks that went off was crazy… and since our house is right next to the wall, we could hear partying and music throughout the night.

I have big news. I have converted three people into loving soccer! Elder P, Elder F, and Elder S all love playing cage soccer now! I am still working on my companion however. After I finish writing I am going to go play with our whole zone.

So a typical day here in Mexico consists of getting up at 6:30 showering, and preparing, and then breakfast at 7:15

  • 7:45 Personal Study
  • 8:45 Instruction Block. This is where Hermana Santiago teaches us for a couple hours. and we also teach her as if she is an investigator.
  • 11:45 Additional Study Time.
  • 12:15 Lunch
  • 1:15 TALL lab. This is Technology Assisted Language Learning. It is a super helpful computer program to help us learn Spanish
  • 2:15 Additional Study Time
  • 2:45 Language Study Time
  • 3:55 GYM
  • 4:45 Shower
  • 5:15 Daily Planning Session
  • 5:45 Dinner
  • 6:30 Instruction Block. This is where Hermano Ortiz and Hermano Guerrero teach us and we teach them as progressing investigators
  • 9:30 Leave Classrooms head for the house
  • 10:30 Asleep

On Tuesdays we have a devotional in the evening. Wednesday we have TRC for an hour at night and now we skip gym to help welcome the new missionaries. Friday we have a random service project instead of TALL.

That is pretty much life here at the CCM. It is nice but I am excited to get out in the field.

Next week we get to visit the Temple on our P-day which I am stoked about doing.

It sounds like you guys had a nice relaxing week and I love all of you.

Also there is a Dear Elder service where you can email letters that I can pick up daily. It is www.DearElder.com.

SinCereally,

Elder Bryce

P.S. I forgot to put this in but Hermano H, the one who likes Bayern Munich and always says DONT CHEAT ME is going to live in Orem for the next couple years and go to LDS business college He left today and so if a random Mexican guy shows up at the house and asks you to make him a pizza, I may have given him our address and told him Dad makes the best homemade pizzas. He is one of the nicest guys I know even though he is a Bayern Munich fan. Also Andy, tell him where he can play soccer in Utah. And don’t be wierded out if he starts giving a shoulder massage. hahaha
