Letter #15: A Euphoric Utopia…

It has been an interesting week that has just flown by… It feels literally like yesterday that I wrote to all yall. It still baffles me. Time just isn’t the same haha.

This week we got to do something interesting. The Senior couple in our zone has been working really hard in this area in Seal Beach called Leisure World. It is this crazy perfect utopia of a gated community, that is super huge, basically a city. And everybody who lives there is old, and they all have golf carts that they drive around in, and there is a ton of security. It reminded me of a movie like The Giver or some other movie where there is a perfect society haha. But what we were doing was going around to all the members in there and giving them fliers of a service project we are doing. Security is super strict so we were only allowed to give them to members but hopefully in the future we could do it for anybody who wants it. Elders from our zone will go to Leisure World like three times a week and just do service for these people who need assistance. When we went and handed out the fliers to the members. These people were soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nice. It was crazy. Going from the streets and ghettos of Long Beach where many people are super rude and do not want to talk to these amazingly nice old folks who could talk our ears off for hours. It was a fun experience and we met so many nice people.

We found a super lady this week and she is golden. We saw her walking and pushing a stroller and she had a bunch of kids running around. We started talking with her and her kids and they loved everything he had to say but as we kept walking and talking with her, we realized that she lived just outside our area, like one street away. We ended telling the other elders about her, and they went by and taught her some more and she came to church this week with a couple of her kids. I’m a little sad that  we don’t get to teach her, but I know the elders that are teaching her are great!

We also found a guy who actually says he is a member and that he was baptized in Mexico but when he moved here his records were lost and he was to embarressed to come back to church. It was a really cool experience. The apartment that he lives in is tiny though. It is about the size of my room back at home. It is crazy small.

That has been about it this week. I am excited for the next couple weeks especially for General Conference!!! I hope yall have a great week

Love,

Elder Bryce
