Letter #26: Another Week in Paradise

Hey everybody! I hope y’all had a great week!

So this week has been really busy for us and we are working really hard and I am really falling in love with the work. I realize how much I love being a missionary and how much I love serving others.

So we have this investigator named R____. He is a really cool guy in his 50’s who is really interested in our message. He is a really really really good painter. He showed us some of the paintings that he has painted and they are beautiful. He paints landscape type paintings and they are so cool. He loves everything we teach but he feels like he is not ready to go to church. We are really trying to work with him to develop the desire to go to church. We have made quite a bit of progress with him and in our last lesson he asked us so many questions. He said that he was watching the History channel and they were saying something about how Joseph Smith saw two extra-terrestrials. haha He asked us questions about if we believe in aliens and extra-terrestrials and if Joseph Smith also saw UFO’s. Some of the questions he asked were super funny.

We also have this other investigator named S_______ and his family. He was an investigator from a different zone and moved here. He has been an investigator for years. We weren’t sure what to expect when we first went over but when we asked him to pray he prayed for Thomas S. Monson in his prayer. He then asked if we could come over when his family was going to have a FHE. We thought we was a member but when we asked him he said he hasn’t been baptized yet. He hasn’t been baptized yet because he isn’t technically married yet. He and his ‘wife’ want to get married but she is married to some guy in Mexico and she can’t get divorced because it is super expensive and stuff. We are working really hard with them because they want to get baptized but they just need to get married first. It is a weird situation so just keep them in your prayers.

Last P-day after we were done emailing we went to the Huntington Beach Pier. I was super cool… Then we went and since it was a Tuesday they have a farmers market on Main Street with all these little booths and stuff. It was super fun and we saw a lot of cool things. It was pretty dope.

I realized something cool this week. I had this weird feeling at church, like I kind of recognized a bunch of the youth. It felt like I had seen them before. I then realized that the Embark 2015 youth video for the church was filmed in Huntington Beach and they used the youth from this stake. Pretty cool.

Today we had a really cool zone activity today. We had a Nerf gun war/hunger games type thing. It was super fun. We all gathered together at the stake center in the gym and set up a bunch of tables and chairs and obstacles and everybody brought Nerf guns and some elders got a bunch of huge Nerf guns that they got from some members and we had a blast. It was awesome. A great way to enjoy a p-day!

That’s pretty much it for this letter! I love y’all.

P.S. I forgot to tell you this but we have a car that we use and since my companion is from Mexico he can’t drive here so I am the driver! I was a bit nervous at first but I am doing fine now! Jeff Gordon got nuttin on me!
