Letter #29: Transfer Week

So it is the start of a new transfer and I am staying with Elder Vicenteno for another transfer!

This past week has been crazy. Yesterday we had to help out with the Huntington Beach Stake Independence Day celebration that they have every year. It was a really cool show/program/presentation thingy with a bunch of musical numbers and stuff, there was a ton of people there. This stake is huge and it reminds me a lot of home. Going to wards in English makes me feel right at home. It is cool. I miss the Spanish wards though! haha

This week we had a really cool experience. We found this lady named Maria P_____. She is like 70 years old. We originally found her on the street after we got out of a lesson. We were walking back to our car and she was out walking and we gave her a Restoration pamphlet and asked if we could come back and visit her and she said maybe but she didn’t know her address, she just knew which house it was. We eventually just said for her to call us and gave her our number. Fast forward two weeks later, we were walking down the street and we noticed this lady who was sitting in a chair outside her house. She looked familiar but we just kept walking because we were on our way to a lesson. We decided to turn around and go talk to her and she said she had tried to read the pamphlet that we left her but only got through the first couple pages because she is just barely learning how to read. She is super solid though. We have had a couple lessons with her and she came to church! She loves everything we say. She said when we knocked on her door, in her mind she saw the Savior knocking on the door. She knows the things we say are from God. She is super awesome. Keep her in your prayers and we are going to keep teaching her.

This week has been pretty great. I am excited to start another transfer. I love missionary work and love helping people. This mission is focusing a lot on service from the website JustServe.org. I am not sure if y’all have heard of this website but it is provided as a service by the Church. There are service opportunities on there which you can sign-up and serve people in your community. Y’all should check it out and see if there is a project that you could do as a family for FHE. It is awesome and our mission president is really pushing it because he said this website and what it is doing to the image of the church, is going to change the world.

I love all of you! I will have you in my prayers. I hope you guys have a great week!
