Letter #44: Food

HEY!!!!!

This week has been a great week. We have picked up some really cool investigators and have seen a bunch of miracles. It is because we have set set some really high goals as a mission to get 100 baptisms before the end of the year. After we set those goals we immediately found some really cool people who I feel like could be baptized by the end of the year.

We picked up this couple who are called J_____ and X______. They are really cool and super nice they invited us in and we had a great first lesson with them. then on Saturday we stopped by to remind them about Church and they invited us in and gave us food. They fed us Cerviche (not sure how it is spelled) but it was Shrimp and Octopus in this weird mixture. The Octopus was super strange. It’s little tentacle thingies were kinda hard to swallow… but the flavor was good.

Their kids were watching the USA vs Mexico game in the other room. So I may have seen the USA goal in the first half. It was crazy how many people had that game on. We were walking down the street and we saw TV’s in like every house in this really Hispanic neighborhood. At one time I saw 5 TV’s simultaneously on. It was crazy. It was hard to find someone to teach. Everyone was watching and drunk… :/

So R_____ has been doing okay. He has been having a tough time giving up smoking. So keep him in your prayers as he is trying to quit. He wants to but wants to take it at his own pace.

We also started teaching these two teenage girls. One is the daughter of a less-active member. They are actually interested in talking to us. Which is cool.

We also taught A_______ and M________ again. They seem really cool and it is weird, usually the kids in a family know English because of school and speak it a ton, but apparently they just moved from Mexico so the kids knew like zero English. We are trying to include the kids in on the lessons but they seem not interested… maybe one day.

We did some service this week and I got sun burned really bad…. Neopolitan style. My arms are chocolate up to my elbow, then it is strawberry, and then like my shoulders are straight vanilla… It is pretty epic. We were doing some yard work for a less-active member. I killed 27 spiders in a row. It was pretty gnarly.

I ate a Guava… It was rad…

I ate an amazing Red Velvet donut that was pretty much the Celestial Kingdom.

Life is good. I am loving all the people that we are teaching and I really hope they don’t move me from this area. I feel like they might next transfer but I really have made great relationships with all the investigators in our area. They are all such great people. I love this work and love the Gospel.
