Letter #69: #ldsconf

So this week was pretty awesome!

General Conference was the bomb! Afterwards I just felt like I was on a spiritual high. It was awesome. Priesthood Session was by far my favorite… I learned sooooo much and felt the spirit sooooo strongly. President Nelson’s talk was so amazing, along with Uchtdorf and Eyring during Priesthood session. Conference as a missionary is beyond amazing.

So we have been having quite a bit of success this week in finding people and teaching people. We were out looking for people to teach and we were able to find this lady named D_______ who is a member but just moved here and hasn’t been to church in 8 or so years. She is so nice and just has a solid testimony, but her husband goes to a different church and she goes with him so they could be together with their kid. We were able to talk with the husband and we are going to try and teach him. It is a great opportunity.

We found this new guy named C________ who is in his early twenties and is one of the most humbles guys I have met. He is quiet and shy but really nice even though he kinda looks like a straight up gangsta. We were able to teach him and really talk about how the gospel really does give us the strength and knowledge that we need to keep on going. We talked about prayer and he said an amazing prayer on the spot. His humility really touched me. It makes me want to change to become as humble as he is.

We then found this girl named N________ who is about 16. She is friends with one of the girls in the ward and sits by her at school. Apparently the missionaries used to pass by her 3-4yrs ago. We were just knocking and she answered the door and was willing to talk with us. She has that genuine desire to learn.

We taught this guy named J________ (who is the definition a gold personality) who is a total business dude but we talked with him for a bit and he really respected the way we act and our willingness to just serve. He kept asking us what we were selling, or what our end goal was, which made me think. What is our end goal. It really stuck out to me that we are just trying to make people happy. To bring them a happiness that lasts beyond this life and into the next. We are not here to force or convince or persuade but to invite to partake of the tree of life. To lead them, to guide them, to walk beside them.

This week we have been really pushing hard. Just trying to go and do, and every night we just come home exhausted… But that is my favorite part. When you go till you just can’t go any further and you really feel God strengthening you and helping you do all that he asks of you, and become just a small instrument in God’s hands. Nothing is more satisfying. When we just hit the pillow at the end of the day just wasted, you have this happiness and joy knowing you gave your all, which is all that he asks of you.

I love all of you and I just love being a missionary.
