Letter #70: Waffles

This week has been phenomenal! The weeks continue to fly on by. We have had a ton of success finding new investigators this week as we have tried to work really hard with Elder Brock’s last couple weeks here in California before he heads to Spain.

We picked up this new investigator named H_______. He is a cool guy who loves sports but we visited him on Monday night and he let us in. He was watching the NCAA Finals wearing a basketball jersey so I had the thought that it wasn’t going to go well. But he muted it and sat in a spot where he couldn’t see the TV, and my companion was also sitting in a spot where he couldn’t see. The place where I was sitting, no matter where I looked I could see the TV. But I didn’t really have any interest in watching it, however I may have seen a couple plays out of the corner of my eye. We proceeded to have a really spiritual lesson and explained what we do and we answered a bunch of his questions. It was probably one of the most spiritual lessons of the transfer. We were able to get his daughter into the lesson too, she is 12 and was also super interested. We finished the lesson right as the game ended so I saw the ending which was pretty cool. He is solid though. He never once watched the game during the lesson.

A_______ went to General Conference last week and went to 3 sessions and watched the other two in the tabernacle. He said it was one of the most amazing experiences of his life. He also loved Utah and might consider moving there.

We had a cool experience where we went on exchanges and we helped someone move a kitchen table and chairs across a main road… It was like a mini game of Frogger. It was really cool and we explained to the old lady that we were missionaries, and kinda explained our purpose and she was really sick at the time and asked for a blessing. We were able to give a priesthood blessing to her in which the spirit was so so so strong. It was amazing. It is really cool to be an instrument in the hands of the Lord. I felt the spirit working through me and just let it happen. It was a really neat experience.

We are currently working with I_______ to prepare him for his baptism this week. That guy is amazing, he is mostly blind, has a bunch of heart problems, and has diabetes. He wanted to walk to church yesterday which was a three mile walk, and made it half way until he had a low blood sugar, and had to stop at a store to get some food. He nearly fainted on his way there. He felt really bad that he couldn’t make it to church because of that… I admire his dedication to serve the Lord and try his hardest. Teaching him has really helped me grow my faith.

Oh and I bought a waffle maker last p-day… Probably the greatest decision I have ever made in my life. I made some dope waffles like every morning last week. Pretty snazzy stuff 🙂

That’s all I have time for this week. I love you all and will keep you in my prayers. I love this gospel and being a missionary, and there is no place that I’d rather be!
