So this week was crazy…
Monday I spent the day in a trio with some other elders which was fun. We had a couple of really cool family home evenings with some of their investigators and the members.
Then on Tuesday was a busy day. Elder Rodriguez got transfered in from Pico Rivera and he is pretty sweet. He is from Spanish Fork, but was born/raised in New York with parents from Puerto Rico. He is a big guy. He was a football player in high school and wants to play in college for BYU as a Center. He is really funny.
A member asked us to help dedicate a car dealership… That was pretty out of the ordinary.
We did service for this lady named K_____. She was moving and had no help so we helped her out. It has been a two week ordeal for the entire zone helping her out.
We found a couple new investigators this week. One whose name is R_____ who is pretty cool. It was strange during the lesson because this crazy catholic guy came up to us and started muttering and took out some Holy water and put it on everything we touched and started blessing everything. Even the garbage cans. It was weird. We said to him “Hello Brother, how are you?” and responded “I’m not your brother, I’m Catholic.” It was super strange but then Rafael told us not to listen to him that he is crazy. haha
We are working with Israel and we are going to schedule a baptismal interview this next week. He is super solid and is reading the Book of Mormon like crazy.
We also taught these two new investigators named O_____and A______. They were two lady’s in their 50’s just chillin’ outside so we went up and talked to them and started teaching about the Plan of Salvation and they were both pretty interested especially in what happens after death and invited us to come back later that week.
Then we had a huge service project on Friday. A family in the ward asked us to come help them lay some concrete down, so we went over (all 8 missionaries) and helped dig a huge pit and helped them fill it in with concrete. There were so many things that went wrong. Random pipes that we found. Not being deep enough, not enough concrete, not on time. But we eventually got it done. It was cool because we saw so many tender mercies. Random people showed up to help at the perfect time.
So that is pretty much it for the week. A lot of spiritual moments. Quite a bit of service. many Tender Mercies, and just another week as a missionary. Man, I love it here.
